Two Brothers Ken and Elmer...and Fred

Among the seven Buller children, 2 sons of Mennonite minister, Joshua David Buller, shared the mind of a poet in the most traditional rythm and rhyme.

Elmer Buller was the more prolific, learning to type, even, while Ken would pen his thoughts on occassion and turn his artisitc inclinations to music, particularly organ and accordian.

The brothers shared a rich relationship, and Ken accumulated boxes of letters and poems from Elmer.  We will share a couple of them with you; they express a sentimental
and heartfelt faith and love of life as they saw it.  A kind of era thing, and the type of poetry you might find in numerous church and self-printed
publications in the early-mid 20th century.

This is who they were.

WHILE ALICE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL

 .              He's the God of the heavens,
                The God of the earth,
                He's the God of laughter,
                The God of mirth;

               He's the God of sorrow,
               The God of joy,
               He's the God of tomorrow
               for each girl and boy.

               He's the God of good music,
               The God of the harp;
               He's the God of the flats
               and even the sharps.

              He's the God of true science,
              The God of all ken.
              He knows what to do -
              right, where, and when.

              He's the God of the wind,
              The God of all seas,
              The God of all nature
              and even the bees.

              He's the God of all daylight,
              The God of the night;
              He's the God of darkness,
              The God of all sight

              He’s the God of the forest.
              the God of the trees,
              I’ll gladly bow down
              Upon my knees.

               He made the elephants,
               He made the fleas,
               He made the grass
               that receives the leaves.

               He’s the God of all heat,
               He causes the freeze,
               The heart of man
               He knows and sees.

                God was here yesterday;
                For tomorrow He'll be
                all I'll ever need
                throughout eternity.

               He's the God of our Bible,
               The God of His way
               that will lead us to Heaven
               some glorious day.  - Ken Buller
